Children can join Hoglets from the term following their third birthday and become part of our Bucklebury community, where we are committed to “Growing the whole child in every child.”
Minimum attendance
To support children in settling into Nursery routines, developing relationships and benefiting fully from our play-based curriculum, we require children to attend a minimum of three sessions per week.
15 funded hours
Children accessing 15 funded hours can attend up to 5 Nursery sessions per week. Parents can choose a combination of:
Morning sessions: 8:40am–11:40am; and/or
Afternoon sessions: 11:40am–2:40pm.
30 funded hours
Eligible children accessing 30 funded hours can attend up to 5 days per week, from 8:40am–2:40pm.
Extension to the end of the school day
Parents may choose to extend their child's Nursery day from 2:40pm until 3:15pm for an additional charge of £2 per day, payable via ParentMail.
Please note that this is an extension of the Hoglets Nursery session only and is not an after-school or wraparound care session. Children must be collected promptly at 3:15pm.
Additional afternoon sessions
Subject to availability, parents may purchase an additional afternoon Nursery session from 11:40am–2:40pm for £15 per session, payable via ParentMail.
Please be aware that wraparound care is not currently available for children in Hoglets (Foundation 1).
This means that children aged 3–4 attending Hoglets cannot attend our before-school provision or any after-school clubs/wraparound provision, including Get Active.
The earliest children attending Hoglets can arrive at school is 8:40am, and the latest collection time is 3:15pm where the paid Nursery extension has been booked. Without the 2:40–3:15pm extension, children must be collected at the end of their booked Nursery session.
When registering your child for Hoglets, you will be asked to select the sessions you would like them to attend. Places for individual sessions are subject to availability and our staffing arrangements.
Once agreed, these sessions will form your child's regular attendance pattern. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer ad hoc or occasional additional sessions, as we need to know in advance how many children will be attending each session to ensure appropriate staffing arrangements are in place.
The maximum number of children attending a Hoglets session is currently 8 children.
Please remember that attending Hoglets does not guarantee a place in our Foundation 2 (Reception) class. Parents and carers will still need to make a separate application for a Reception place through the appropriate West Berkshire school admissions process.
If you have any questions about Nursery sessions, availability or funding arrangements, please contact Mrs Laura Sparks, School Secretary, on 01635 862965 or by email at office@bucklebury.w-berks.sch.uk.
Thank you for your support. We look forward to seeing our Hoglets grow in confidence and become an important part of our Bucklebury school community.
